Today the Middle School students celebrated Chanukah with a special seudah, and a mini-Maccabia! After 4th period, the students entered the Saval Auditorium, which had been decorated by the student council for Chanukah. The students ate a Chinese banquet, and then went into the shul for Shevatim awards.

Following the awards, Mrs. Mickey Blechner-Nyer introduced the "See-Run-Build" activity. The students were divided into eight teams, each made up of a combination of Seers, Runners, and Builders. The challenge was for the Seers to observe a scene, memorize as many of the details as possible, and then bring all of this information to the Runners. The Runners then had to relay this information to the Builders, who were stationed in classrooms with a teacher. The Builders then had to recreate the original scene as accurately as possible. For our game, the original scene consisted of costume-clad Rabbi Huff and Rabbi Maayan, standing on chairs holding a Chanukah shield (designed by the student council). The results were quite varied and amusing. Some groups drew the scene, highlighting different parts of the scene. One group had their members dress up as Rabbi Huff and Rabbi Maayan, also with amusing results. The goal of the game was teamwork and fun, and we definitely achieved these goals!

After Mincha, we had our first Middle School dodgeball tournament! All students played, and everyone had a good time. Thank you so much to the Middle School student council and to Mrs. Nyer for creating a nice avirah and activity for Chanukah.
